18 september 2018 18:15

The 2036 Ryder Cup and 2031 US PGA Championship will be held at Congressional Country Club.

The PGA of America made the announcement on Tuesday, with the United States now having confirmed their venues for the next five times they host golf's most prestigious team event.

Congressional last hosted one of golf's big four tournaments in 2011, when Rory McIlroy won the first of his four major titles at the U.S. Open.

John Easterbrook, interim CEO of the PGA of America, said: "This partnership with Congressional Country Club and its membership is monumental in scope and stature, and we are excited to showcase the range of championships and events that the PGA of America has to offer."

The course in Maryland has hosted four major tournaments, the U.S Open on three occasions and the US PGA Championship once.

Whistling Straits, Bethpage State Park, Hazeltine and The Olympic Club will all host the Ryder Cup before Congressional in 18 years.
