Swans hold on against Cats

22 juni 2012 15:08

After trailing at every change and by four goals heading into the last term, the Cats staged a sensational comeback kicking five of the first six goals to edge in front midway through a pulsating last term.

But after spending more than three quarters on the bench as the Swans substitute, Andrejs Everitt popped up with a vital goal to hand the home side a 12.8 (80) to 11.8 (74) win in front of more than 27,000 fans.

It did not look good for the Swans just 10 minutes earlier as quick goals to Paul Chapman (two), Josh Hunt and Corey Enright edged the visitors in front.

And they looked like they would hold on for the win until one final push got Sydney over the line.

The Swans set up the win in a blistering first term where they kicked seven goals straight to just one from the Cats.

It was Sydney's third win in a row and cements their spot in the top four ahead of next weekend's derby against Greater Western Sydney.

The Cats will be disappointed not to have got the points after doing so well to fight back in the last term but will be left to rue two-and-a-half poor quarters of football.
